Launceston Race 8

Ladbrokes Back Box 1 & 8 Combined Division1

Stake: $5,956

RUPEE'S ROCKET (4) boasts a strong record this journey with eight wins and three minors from 16 tries. Missed the frame latest (25.91) when fourth over 461m at Hobart in a Special conditions race. Rates on top and should go close. DON'T TELL TOMMY (8) goes very well this trip starting 15 times for eight wins and five minors. Comes off a (29.56) win last time, scoring by half a length in a Grade 2/3 over 515m at this track. Can feature with the right run. CRYSTAL (5) unwanted in betting but showed good early dash and led until late, finishing third and beaten 1.5 lengths (29.67) at this track in a Grade 2/3 over 515m. Ran one of the fastest times on the program last start despite finishing in the minors. Winning chance. GRAPEFRUIT EXPEL (2) missed the frame latest but ran a handy 26.05. One of the chances here.

Has been out of the money of late. Could only manage fifth last time out over 461m at Hobart. Can't recommend in this field.

Comments

Started big odds last time but hit the ground running with a slick early split, giving a sight but fading out of it to finish fourth (26.05) at Hobart over 461m. Should be around the mark.

Missed the frame last start when a 2.25 lengths fourth (25.91) at Hobart. Previous form sound including a win three back at this track. Looks a leading contender on best and expected to bounce back.

Finished third (29.67) at this track last time making it three placings in a row. Awkward draw to overcome. Worth including.
